Thames River Challenge Lechlade to London around 140 miles & 46 locks – raising funds for The Sea Cadets

September 5th 2017

Three men and a rowing boat from 6 September 2017 – BSG’s Director (Graham Godward) & Team raising funds for The Sea Cadets

A Challenge is only a challenge if there is a good chance of failure, we did qualify for this. The three men in a boat thing has of course been done before, but we are probably the oldest team to attempt this with a combined age of over 2oo and we did have a very large boat at 5.6 metres long, it belonged to the sea cadets and we were trying the to raise a little money to help their cause. This is an organisation which helps young people from all walks of life, to develop their confidence and skills and to go on to become the successful and useful adults of tomorrow.  It was with some relief when after five days we passed under Tower Bridge (we are in the picture) on the last leg to Greenwich.
